These easy Grinch Cupcakes will make your heart grow three sizes too!
It’s almost my cookie weekend! Which means we are far closer to Christmas than I am ready for. Every year I spend the weekend before Christmas baking up a storm in my kitchen and then on Monday everyone gets a box of cookies!
What kinds of goodies do you bake for your friends at Christmas time?
Sooooo, last month I had this great idea for some Grinch shaped cupcakes. They were going to be 3D and awesome and delicious. Then they failed and I had to go to Plan B. With everything else I had to bake this month, I just didn’t have the time to try again, but I am already planning on it for next year.
All failures aside, my Plan B Grinch Cupcakes did turn out very cute and they are so easy to decorate.
For the Grinch Cupcakes you will need:
- 12 unfrosted cupcakes
- 3 Cups of Frosting
- Wilton Gel Color in Green, Black, and Yellow
- Piping Bags
- Wilton Icing Tips numbers 3, 5, and 233
First things first, color your frosting. Color 2 ½ cups Kelly Green, ¼ cup Black, and ¼ cup Yellow.
Next, cover each cupcake with a layer of green frosting and place the remaining frosting in a piping bag with the #233 tip. When using this particular icing tip you want the frosting to be a medium consistency, not too thin, but not so stiff you can’t pipe the frosting out. Using the remaining green frosting, dot the frosting in the shape of The Grinch’s head, creating a furry look.
Once all the faces are piped, put the yellow frosting in a piping bag with tip #5. Pipe two small dots on each cupcake for the eyes.
After each cupcake is given eyes, place the black frosting in a piping bag with tip #3. You’ll use the black frosting to outline the face, add the eyebrows, mouth, and the pupils to the eyes.
Finally, using whatever green frosting is remaining make The Grinch’s little ‘flouf’ of hair on top of his head.
Grinch Cupcakes would make a wonderful treat to take to a kids holiday party.
